Growing up in Southern California, Sting was never a fan of wrestling until he started training.
Blade Runners: Sting & Rock |
First adopting face paint when teaming with the man who would become The Ultimate Warrior, he would continue it throughout his career.
Sting In UWF |
Going solo, and taking the name "Sting", Borden would wrestle in the UWF (Universal Wrestling Federation) and then WCW (World Championship Wrestling) where he would wrestle for until 2001.
Sting VS Ric Flair |
As Sting became more and more popular, he decided to start wearing brighter colours with his attire and face paint. Possibly his most famous from that era was his U.S.A style from his first world title win.
Sting in 1996 |
During the mid 90's, Sting would start growing his hair out from his bleach blonde look to his natural colour.
Deciding he needed a change in character, in 1996 Sting would take an idea from The Crow film and start to wear just black and white face paint.
Sting was insanely popular during that period, and broke PPV records with his match against Hollywood Hogan at Starcade 1997.
In the middle of 1998, Sting changed his look up, adopting red instead of white, when joining the nWo Wolfpac.
Reverting back to his black and white look in 1999, Sting world stay committed to that look until he started changing up his look when wrestling for TNA.
First Sting started adding a few colours to his regular look, and then he created another version of his character "Joker" Sting.
Sting & Darby Allen |
Sting would continue his black and white theme until he retired in 2024, although he did start adding different touches when teaming with Darby Allen in his last run in wrestling.
Authors Note:
I've always been a massive fan of Sting, and I was lucky to get to see him wrestle live twice (once for WCW and once for TNA).
Check out the video I made, showing Sting throughout the years
